Amanda H. 783

Amanda H. the book that you are reading sounds cool. We have a lot in common so I am pretty sure that I will like it too. Please tell me the information such as the author and publisher so that i can go pick it up at Barns&Noble.

Breaking Dawn

I finally finished Breaking Dawn and it was GREAT. I feared for Renesmee and I was surprised the the Volurti Guard left the Cullen's and their witnesses untouched. I was happy for Bella when Alice and Jasper came back because I could tell how much she missed her. Any comments on the book feel free to post!

A Midsummer Night's Dream Essay Questions

2. If you were to act this play out on stage, which character would you choose to be and why?

If I were to act this play out on stage I would be Robin Goodfellow or Puck the mischievous fairy. I would be Puck because his role seems like fun to play. Puck gets to go around making humans look like fools without being reprimanded. He is just like an incognito criminal. His job is to make the King of fairy's, Oberon laugh and have fun. It would be an unusual but exciting job to be the jester of the King of fairy's.

3.What was your favorite Act/Scene?

I had a lot of favorite scenes in the play A Midsummer Night's Dream. One of my favorite scenes was when Hermia was attempting to fight Helena. Hermia was so ready to get into a brawl with someone who was supposed to be her friend. Also it was awkward to hear that Helena made fun of Hermia because of her height. Hermia sounded kind of crazy when she said "let me at her I will gauge her eyes out. I enjoyed watching this scene acted out in our class. It was action filled and event filled.

4. Who was your least favorite character? Why?

In the play A Midsummer Night's Dream my least favorite character was Helena. She was my least favorite because she seemed to insecure and desperate that she was willing to do anything for the love of Demetrius. I also felt bad for her because she went on an emotional roller coaster. First she was loved by Demetrius and then hated by him. Then she was loved by both Lysander and Demetrius to the point where they were willing to fight for her love. Then she was loved by her true love Demetrius who treated her like a dog in the beginning of the play. She had so little confidence in herself that she had to tell on her best friend just in an attempt to get what she wanted, and even then she didn't even get the attention of Demetrius.

A Midsummer Night's Dream Act V

In the beginning of act V scene i, Theseus' wife Hippolyta explains how strange it is that all four of the lovers had the same outrages dream. Thesus just blows off the comment and explains that when people are in love they do crazy things. Philostrate then explains to Theueus that the play is about a very sad and tragic comedy and is a terriable play. They procced to see the play anyway and credit the actors for there effort. In the begining of the play the prologue uses terriable punctuiation and horriable grammer making the audience feel insulted. The prologue also repeats the whole plot to the audience and ruins the whole play. The wall then come's out and explains that he is the wall and that his two fingers represent the whole which the two lovers Pyramus and Thisbe commomicute through. The two lovers plan to meet at Ninny's grave. Then we are introduced to two more characters. Lion and Moonshine. They both go on and on about their characters and the audience gets frustrated because Moonshine portrays the moon as a lantarn and portrays himself as the man on the moon. The audience then wonders why he is not inside the lantern. Pyramus then kill' s himself because he thinks his lover Thisbe is dead. He dies by repediatly saying "here I go, here I go, and now im dead..." Thisbe then sees her dead lover Pyramus and stabs herself to death.
The fariy Queen Titania and King Oberon are happy now and speak of the beautiful children they are going to have. The play ends off by Puck telling everyone that everything was a dream.

A Midsummer Night's Dream Act IV

In A Midsummer Night's Dream act four the fairy Queen Titania is sitting with her lover Bottom with the donkeys head still placed upon his neck. Titania orders all of her fairies do do what ever Nick Bottom wants. Bottom and Titania fall asleep and Oberon and Puck squeeze the second flower juice onto her eyes to make her see in her clear and as she did once before. When Titania wakes up she see' s the hideous monster that she was sleeping with and everything becomes a faint memory like a dream. Oberon forces Puck to remove the donkey head from Bottom. Theseus than grants Hermia permission to marry Lysander and Helena permission to marry Demetrius. Helena, Hermia, Demitrius, and Lysander have no idea what has happened and neither does Bottom.
In the second scene all of the actors are worried because they do not know where Bottom is. Quince thinks that the play can't go on without Bottom because he is the most handsome and smartest actor in the play. Bottom then shows up and demands that the group has a rehearsal before the actual play. Bottom also refuses to tell the other actors where he has been.

Nick Bottom

Justin G. brought up a good point saying thay Nick Bottom reminds him of Napolean from Animal Farm. I think some of the similarities are that they both want to rule every thing and take control of something that isn't even theirs to begin with. Also, Napolean wants to have to take all of the credit for everything that goes on and so does Nick Bottom. Leave a comment saying what you think about this comparison.

P.S
I know the second picture is a bit strange and disturbing but it is supposed to portray Nick Bottom.

A Midsummer Night's Dream Act III

In A Midsummer Night's Dream act III scene 1 the actors for the play for Theasus's and Hippolyta's wedding start to practice int the forest by the huge oak tree. Bottom starts to take control over the play once again by saying that there should be an introduction before the play to warn the audience of the events that are going to happen in the play. Bottom goes off into the bushes when his is done with his role to wait for his next cue. When he is sitting in the bushes Puck the mischievous fairy decides to cast a spell on bottom and to turn his head into that of a donkey. Puck loves to play tricks on mortals and to see them making complete fools of them selves. Bottom then goes onto the "stage" to play in his next scene and all of his friends run off in horror thinking that they are being cursed by a monster. Bottom still has no idea that his head has been unfortunately replace with that of a donkey and thinks his friends are playing a trick on him. Meanwhile the fairy queen sleeps near by with the flower juice from cupids flower still sprinkled on her eyes and awaiting her to wake up. Bottom is determined to tell his friends that his is not phased by their foolish games and starts to sing. Meanwhile Titiania starts to wake up and she hears the beautiful sounds of Bottom. She immediately falls in love with him and tells him that he is going to stay with her forever. Bottom thinks nothing about this and agrees to what ever Titiania says.

Oberon starts to think about Titiania and what kind of creature she fell in love with. Oberon realizes that Robin put a spell on the wrong man and that he has raised havoc on the forest. Hermia thinks that Demitrius killed Lysander and yells at him for harming her lover. Lysander starts to compliment Helena and she still thinks he is playing a cruel joke on her so she doesn't believe him. Puck then is told by Oberon to find the lovesick Helena and put the flower juice on Demitrius' eyes to make him fall in love with her. When Demitrius wakes up he falls madly in love with Helena. Helena is now miserable because she feels that everyone is in on the joke. Demetrius tells Lysander to go back to Hermia and to leave him and Helena alone. Hermia enters and starts to talk to Lysander but he doesn't want her. Helena then thinks that Hermia is in on the joke and gets upset because she thought that they were best friends and almost like sisters. Helena feels insulted by all of them and decides that leaving or dieing will do her good. Lysander and Demitrius start to follow each other into the forest to fight each other. Puck leads each of them separate ways and eggs each of them on to fight. Demetrius and Lysander are exhausted by chasing after each other so they both lay down and fall asleep. Helena is also tired and exhausted and decides to leave her trip to Athens until the morning. Hermia is upset and cannot go on any further and lays down and sleeps.

A Midsummer Night's Dream act II scene i starts off with Oberon and Titania arguing like always. This time there fighting over a young Indian prince who Titania captured and who she wants to become her son. But King Oberon has other plans for the prince. He wants him to become a personal human body guard. Oberon wants to get revenge on Titania. A Midsummer Night's Dream Act I

Act One Scene One of A Midsummer Night's dream starts off with one of the main characters Theseus speaking to his soon to be wife Hippolyta about their upcoming wedding. In this scene Egeus is trying to get his daughter Hermia to marry the young nobleman Demetrius. Although Hermia loves Lysander her father refuses to let him marry her. Helena is a young beautiful girl who is loved by Demetrius until she expresses her love love back to him, now she is an obsessed and desprate over Demetrius. Theseus tells Hermia that if she disobeys her fathers choices and decides to run of and marry Lysander that she will be excucuted. Although Hermia was threatened she still runs into the forest with Lysander and tells one of her good friends Helena what she is doing. But what Hermia doesn't know is that Helena will do anything for Demetrius's attention even if it means telling on one of her best friends.

In Act One Scene Two Peter Quince is starting to read aloud the casting call for the play for Theseus and Hippolyta's wedding. Nick Bottom immediately takes control saying that he is going to be the best actor for each part in the play even thought he is just a weaver who has never acted in a play ever before. Bottom keeps repeating that he is the best actor when Peter Quince is trying to direct his play. Nick Bottom plays Pyramus. Francis Flute is one of the more masculine men in the group and is chosen to play Thisbe a young woman in love with Pyramus who speaks in a falsetto high squeaky voice. Tom Snout is chosen to play Pyramus's father in the play. Robin Starveling ends up playing moonshine in the play for the Duke and his wife. Snug is not so bright and is chosen to play the lion in the play and is afraid that the the women in the audience will be afraid of his majestic roar. This scene ends with Quince telling all of the actors to practice their parts and meet in the forest by the oak tree in the night to practice. This is ironic because of Lysander and Hermia's adventure into the forest that same night!

Suck It Up

I read a different book about vampires over the summer. It was called Suck it Up by Brian Meehl. It does not have the same theme as the Twilight Saga because the vampires only live among people in certain times in their life. Also many of the vampires live on a diet of artificial blood instead of animal blood. Check it out if you have a chance!

Shakespeare Portrait

Early last week it was discovered that the only surviving portrait of William Shakespeare. It was discovered hanging in an Irish country home. I think that this is so ironic because it was discovered when we started studying the Shakespeare era.

Henry V

Hey I wanted to know what you guys thought about the Henry V play that we saw earlier today. I know most of you must think it was boring and helpless. I think that for a Shakespere play being done on such a small stage with not very much props it was pretty good! Leave a post telling me what you think!

Twilight Saga

I love the series Twilight by Stephine Meyer. One reason that I love this book is because I love the romance part of it. When a ordinary girl from a small town called Forks can fall head over heels in love with a mythical creature as majestic as a vampire. Does anyone else like this book? If so leave a comment saying why or why not.
